Rougemont School's Year 10 rugby team became one of the first school squads in Wales to use GumGauge Impact Indicators in competitive tournament rugby, deploying them throughout the URDD 7s.

Players wore the i/impact indicator throughout every match of the tournament — giving coaches and parents on the touchline live, on-field visual feedback each time a significant impact was recorded.

"This absolutely has our backing. What an amazing invention and incredible opportunity for our players."

A first for school sport in Wales

The URDD 7s brought together schools from across Wales for a full day of competitive sevens rugby. For Rougemont, it was also an opportunity to pilot GumGauge in a real tournament environment — one with multiple matches, multiple impacts, and real sideline pressure.

The response from parents and staff was immediate. The visible indicator on the players' mouthguards meant that for the first time, the people watching from the touchline had an objective signal to act on — rather than having to rely on their own judgement of what they could see during play.

What people said

"A matter that has concerned me greatly. GumGauge gives us a tool to act with confidence."
— Parent, Rougemont School
"What a fantastic product. Simple, visible, and gives everyone on the sideline peace of mind."

The feedback from the day reinforced why GumGauge was built for grassroots sport. No specialist knowledge required. No apps or technology to manage. Just a clear, immediate, visual signal that something happened — and a reason to check.

GumGauge is an objective tool designed to support sideline decision-making. It is not a diagnostic device, and does not replace proper assessment of a player by a qualified individual.
